Last night the children were being less than obedient for bedtime. After hearing quite a bit of bouncing and giggling going on upstairs, Joshua headed up to discipline the rowdy kids. He caught Malachi being rather rambunctious and asked him: "Didn't I tell you to be quiet?"
"Well," Malachi answered with a thoughtful look on his face, "I was trying to be quiet but... something went wrong."

That's great! Reminds me of a story about my sister in law when she was 6ish. She was being disciplined for something - hitting her brother or something, and when asked why she did it, she said, "I just lost my mind!"

I remember when I was babysitting the Barblings. I'd repeatedly told #1 & 2 to be quiet, but could still hear them laughing. When I called up to them the final time, there was silence...then #1 called down and said "I was having a funny dream".
